Every import of a template crashes the app on MAC 10.13.6 - so it’s a PITA at best
I have been using Flowvella for years on mobile devices to create and send my resumes. The feeback I get is overwhelmingly positive. I’ve just added the tool to my Mac and find it so easy to use. I seriously love this app and recommend it to everyone who wants to create a presentation (or resume ;)) that is stylish and artistic.
I've been tasked with creating an expo booth for my company's international sales meeting, and Brent and the team at FlowVella have made this process seemess and as interactive as I need it to be. The value this software provides to my team and sales force is frankly incalculable. I know I needed a quick and easy way to customize my presentations and house them on multiple iPads that will link out to flatscreens. Before FlowVella, I wasn't expecting to be able to easily present and deploy interactive content and videos on multiple devices..quite frankly I was figuring out how to design an interactive PDF for this, but the process contained WAYYY to much complexity. I must say what really sold me on FlowVella was the ability to gather feedback of my target demographic directly from within FlowVella and FlowKiosk. This alone is a huge asset to me, as I now am able to have my fellow team interact with our Sales Force and then capture their feedback of the software that we are producing. GREAT JOB FLOWVELLA! I am excited and cannot wait to build out my departments expo booth and then have the ability to recap the entire experience's success with FlowVellas built in analytics feature (handy for bonus time). Kudos to Brent for the swift replies and explanations to any questions that I have had.
I bought the app for a one time price, now I find that they just kept the money and expect me to pay monthly. I thought that's exactly what the App store was supposed to protect against. I got literally zero for my money.
Updating my reviwew again! Download APPLE TV APP in the TV Store. Make presention with this app and then use the code they give here to see and share on any Apple TV connected Sscreen including BIG ONES! MY God they added SOUND!!!! FOR FREE! On a free program! How stupendous! I WAS AN EARLY ADOPTER and THE COMPANY does A GREAT JOB OF ADDING TONS OF NEW FETURES. The thing cost me five bucks early on. And I went Premium to get more once I saw how valuable this thing is. So to build a bigger audience they went FREE and now if you want wildly better features you can choose premium or not. YOUR CHOICE! This is totally great! Download it free and see! This app is AWESOME - Support and updates fantastic. Templates are great. Grab one, type some text, drop in a pdf or a link to a website and publish to thier cloud free. You get a link to your FlowVella. Paste the link in an email or text or on Facebook or in twitter. BAM you have a full presentation that describes, sells or shares in seconds. A million times better than Powerpoint. Note - if you dig this - get premium add on. There is more storage but the great hidden feature in premium is the metrics of WHO saw your presentation and how much was seen and when! Doesn’t get better than this fast and clean solution to telling any story!
Looks like a great app… if I could open it
If you are looking for an easy to use presentation app to solve all your needs. It is the one!
A really distinct presentation app. I have not found another way to incorporate my multimedia such as video, image galleries, pdfs, and now audio that has the same simplicity and shareabiltiy as FlowVella. Seriously one click publishing, custom URLs, viewable online… The list goes on but at the end of the day it’s simple, and it helps me communicate my ideas effectively.
Very few features. Keeps trying to charge you for privacy. Not nearly as good as google slides, keynote, or powerpoint. SAVE YOURSELF, DON’T BUY
A picture is worth a thousand words, but add some audio and you have a whole new dimension. With this new version you can add music, a voice message or any other audio to your flow…how much fun is that!
This truly is appalling to those of us who purchased a complete and paid app only to have it removed of a freemium shortly after. It’s borderline criminal to remove access to an app with features and functionality now only available in a subscription service. Bottom line - refund us.
I looked into Flowvella after running into some compatibility issues with other well-known presentation software and I couldn’t be happier. Flowvella makes it really easy to publish my presentations to the web or email them as PDFs with the push of a button. Quick links are also offered now for presentations, so I can share my presentations to Facebook or Twitter, which I can’t do with other presentation software I’ve used. The new update provides better app stability over the previous version, too. The Flowvella software is definitely a keeper!
Love this app. It’s so simple and fun to use. In fact, my kids are using it now in school and some teachers are getting their students to adopt as well! Keep up the great work!
I was also an earlier supporter of this product and paid for the premium. Having used it a for a few ‘flowboards’ now called flowvellas, it worked well. Now it appears they went Freemium and took all the features I cared about that I purchased, and said I can’t use them anymore without paying more. I can’t even go back and edit my flows, (and keep it private). Very disappointed I supported this company and paid money for a now free product.
I was one of the early adopters who bought this app and read about the launch price and all this crap about not reducing the app more than the launch price.. I bought it because I saw a good app, and now I’m surprised to receive an email from the developers with additional crap about the need of offering the app for free and add a monthly premium subscription that applies even to those who already bought the app long time ago… THANKS APPLE FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT, AND THANKS FOR LISTENING TO US!!!!!!! WHEN IT COMES TO EARNING MORE MOENY YOU TURN YOUR DEAF EAR TO US… I deleted the app, and considered the money paid to the developers as charity to beggars “theives”…. I will never buy anything that has those theifelopers name on it!!!!!
Are you kidding me? I really just wanted to support this developer, so I went ahead and bought this about a month ago. Now it’s free and they’re trying to sell premiums now? Suckered again. FAIL :( UPDATE: Flowvella reached out to me and let me know there’d been an email that went out announced the change and offering discount coupons, etc. I never got this email, but the fact they reached out, explained and upgraded my account means they at least care. It’s a good app and I hope to use it more in the future. Now that it’s free to use, just download and try for yourself. It’s really very intuitive, despite their rocky launch. :)
I paid for the app - developer, you need to support the folks who supported *you* in the beginning. I’m going to try to get a refund.
First they change the name from Flowchart to FLowvella. That should have been my first reason for leaving. Then they made it a 50% off app so i bought it, then they give it away. If this company wants to maintain credability, they should refund all the paying customers theire money and start fresh.
I understand that developers need continuous income to maintain and support an existing app but I think it’s the lowest of the low to take an app, that hasn’t been updated in any significant way, and then convert it to free, giving a giant middle finger to everyone who supported you previously. At least when SwiftKey went free they had the good graces to give all their previous pro members a free customization package that equaled the paid value; so, you got to have the same features as free users and also got a little extra. I don’t support the kind of practices Flowboard is employing. At least offer people who already paid for the app a free 1-3 months subscription. A good app can be ruined by shaddy practices. I’m going to look into getting a refund.
I was an early adopter, purchasing this app soon after it was released. I paid up front for a premium app with access to all features and with no monthly payment. Now, the developers have switched to a “freemium” model and expect me to pay for access to the same program I purchased not so long ago. This is at very least unethical if not illegal. It certainly isn’t wise for companies to screw the very people who financially supported them so that they could survive long enough to need a plan that accomodates growth like this. It’s much easier to keep a happy customer (who tells others about their app) than to find new ones. They have lost this customer and many others, I suspect. Maybe this doesn’t seem to apply to you because you’re getting it “free” - except that nothing is actually free and you’ll have to pay to fully use this app. I will never give another cent to this company and I’ll think twice before supporting others if Apple offers no protection against this bait and switch behavior. You’d be wise to consider whether you’re ok with one day learning that you no longer have access to what you purchased because Flowvella has shown that they are ok with doing just that.
Just bought it for two or three months. It feel like a scam, since it is already free now, and you need to pay 19 dollars more to get a premium edition. Unbelievable.
Is that too long ago to be annoyed that this app is now “free?” I have never had this happen with an app before, so I hope the experience is much improved. Consider this a temporary review.
Love how easy it is to just drag images in from chrome. Makes things so much easier to build! Thanks!
I’m loving the ability to set my slides to auto advance! I’ve been wanting a presentation maker to be able to set it and forget it.
Flowvella is an excellent presentation tool that has tremendous room for growth. The visual and web-integrated nature of this program makes it a delight to work with for the most part. Presentation templates are great and it comes with great guides to ease in new users. My main complaint with the program can only be chalked up to the fact that it is still quite a new program. The program doesn’t have an option for bullet points in the sense of actual formatting (you can manually add dashes or special symbols that do the job, but there are no actual bullet points that I can see). Another feature that would be great is a native section for creation of graphs and tables. The current workaround I’ve used is to create the graph/table in some other program and paste it as a picture, but it would be great to do this in Flowvella. Other than that, the program is excellent and is definitely only going to improve with time! Completely recommend this.
Running Mavericks. The program bombs on startup.
Absolutely love the new features and the continued stability improvements! FlowVella leaves other presentation and storytelling apps in the dust!
Ever further expanding the usefulenss and tools for impressive presentations!
I’ve used Power Point for years, worked with keynote and tried a handful of other online web based platforms but nothing compares to FlowVella. I use PPT or keynote for webinars, videos and course materials for my business. Even though I’m pretty tech savvy, when it comes to tools and apps I want things that are easy to use and save me time- which is exactly what FlowVella does. It also looks fantastic! The first project I created was simply a webinar presentation. The presentation went smooth but the only thing I missed was having notes that I can view like I do with PPT, but next time I’ll simply have my notes ready to go as opposed to solely relying on the presentation (or give myself more time to plan & prepare). I’m looking forward to creating more with FlowVella and trying the video features (video in the presentation) and embedding a presentaion on my site! Nicely done FV team! :-)
I don’t usually write reviews, but I bought FlowVella with high hopes and was let down, so I figured this review may help others. I give presentations to my team quite often, and usually use Powerpoint or Keynote for the visual portion. After using those for the last few years, and now trying FlowVella, here are my thoughts: Pros - Interesting interface - Ability to upload presentations to the FlowVella website is neat, although mine kept showing up incorrectly and jumbled - Media implementation is nice (i.e. videos) - Templates are helpful Cons - No widescreen. This one baffles me….who uses 4:3 aspect ratio TVs anymore? All presentations I do are on widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio). After contacting FlowVella support, I was told 4:3 is the only ratio you can use. What a bummer and huge lacking feature. Keynote and Powerpoint both provide this out of the gate. This is a dealbreaker for me. 4:3 aspect ratio looks bad on a normal TV / projector - Limited functionality. You can tell this is in the early stages — which is fine — but I’d recommend lowering the price. I ended up switching back to Keynote within 15 minutes of using this. I’m rooting for these guys, because we need more competition in this space, but for now this has a long way to go.
This app seems to be an interesting idea and looks to have potential, but unless you have a screaming fast Internet connection, it is just flat out S-L-O-W to the point of being non-functional. My Internet connection is a modest speed, which makes this program pretty much unusable as it takes so long to do anything and some things never do load. It might be worth a look if they fix this but, until then, unlees you have a really fast Internet connection, I cannot recommend this program.
Overall some great themes and fonts, polished and easy to use UI. FlowVella could be much better with further improvements: Photo editing doesn’t exist Resizing pictures into circle and other shapes impossible (you have to edit it into a circle prior to inserting it) Inserting various shapes is complicated and unusable in many cases, e.g. inserting an arrow at a 45 degree angle is impossible Allow preloading themes, imagine if you don’t have internet access Media management seems to have a couple bugs
FlowVella (formerly known and loved as Flowboard) is such a breath of fresh air! Creating presentations on either a Mac or iPad is such a joy. Pick an existing template to modify or create your own easily from either iPad or Mac. Once created keep a copy on the FlowVella server or, with a Premium Account, control who has access to your Flows. The FlowVellas I have created thus far for my clients have been very well received and are easily deployed. The app is/has quickly earned a spot in my repertoire of presentation “go to” tools. Looking forward to their future builds and feature sets. Thank you Brent and the whole FlowVella Team!!
I have used previously Flowboard, now Flowvella for tour books with retailers looking for new locations. The app works great in placing demographic material and site specific material in an easy to use iPad app. The first tour saved me $130 on color printing cost for one tour book. A great presentation app for real estate.
Dont buy this i just bought this and im already having troubles with it. If your trying to find something more like powerpoint , i wouldnt suggest this. If any one knows a better app i can buy thats more like powerpoint i wish to know it:)
I use keynote and powerpoint a lot - I’d say I’m an expert in both. However, they don’t quite have everything I want in a presentation app. Flowboard gives me the best bits of both the former mentioned apps plus some awesome tidbits extra. Well worth the money and frankly, I’d have paid the full price for what I get with this software. In the very early days there were some bugs and I’d just email the flowboard team and then a few days later they’d issue a new install. Pretty awesome response, even from a growing company. I hope microsoft buys them out and incorporates their awesomeness into powerpoint.
This app is very responsive, clean and on its way to being a good but still needs work. The developers left out small details that should be intuitive by nature e.g. right click rename story board (or even better, shortcut), first time I tried to rename via the toolbar it crashed. Needs work...
Great app that even novices can use to create beautiful and compelling interactive presentations. Actually I would think of them as being more information products than old style “presentations”. If you’re looking to create an interactive presentation your viewers can click through on their own, this is a great app for it. Really well done application. Things I love - Linking screens to hyperllinks, other screens etc. - In application image editing- specifically cropping. LOVE this. - Really easy to use- slides creation is intuitive and easy - Copying from other applications into the screens is very clean. Works great. - Sharing across any platform. Couple suggestions that would make it eaisier to use- - Text arrows to increase or decrease the size of fonts eaisly. - A way to create bullets in text within the application.
Every update keeps getting better: This is the best app ever. It took my basic training tools and enhanced them to be the 2014 material people and students should be seeing. Interactive and engaging. The developers are quick to respond and very helpful. I will never present the same again :) This app will change the way you present. It does everything I expected and more. This will be my go to presentation software for years to come. Trust me when I say FLOWBOARD is the BEST! If you are giving this app less than 5 stars then it may be user error. Just email the developer and they will help you if you have an issue. Plus they want their product to be a good one :) Teachers can create interactive openhouse or back to school night presentations for parents and students. You can engage your students in your lesson when they are absent and or need more help. Business owners or people who are self employed can make business cards with the flowboard address on it, so that people can always access your flowboard and you can always change/update your information so that it is current :) This tool can even be used as a resume! Artist can display their work of art. Just a genius group of developers and it works wonders for me. It is worth every penny. I LOVE FLOWBOARD!
The app is a great idea, but needs some serious work. Seems every time I make some edits, it hangs up and eventually crashes. My diagnostics says it is sucking up all my available memory - even with all other apps closed. When creating edit boxes, something happens eventually that results in the box having no lower point (i.e. it appears to be thousands of lines in length. That’s probably what is causing it to hang up.
I am wondering if you are a real company ? It doesn’t even show up when I fire the app…. I lost my 10 buckz….
I had a bunch of formatting issues and crashes. the support people are very nice and are trying hard to make this software stable. I ended up uninstalling it and doing my presentation in google slides, which had the share function and is also colabritive. Sorry Flipboard team
Flowboard is an awesome idea and really does look great. But I’m one of those people who experience complete crashes often (about 10-20 times a session). I’m gonna stop using this app until the next version. Hopefully it gets better!
My laptop is Mac Pro retina with 8G RAM, I can run Final Cut and IMovie at the same time editing videos smoothly. But I cant run this app with all other apps closed. It crushes 6 times in 30 minutes. It is so smart that it crashes before you have emough time so save your job. I like the concept, but you cant be productive with the crashes.
I love the flexibility you have when making presentations. Very interesting how they support multiple media types (pdf, youtube, vimeo, etc) that can be embedded inside of your presentation. I’m also a fan of the great looking templates that are available in the app - very high quality.
I like the concept of interactive navigation and the ability to share. However the other presentation features are so basic, that many professionals who are used to Power Point will find it difficult to author the content they need. The idea of incorporating web-like impression statistics is powerful if you’re creating a presentation for a large sales force and you want to see what’s actually getting shown to customers — or perhaps if you’re embedding the presentation in a web site and you’re looking for feedback on what visitors actually spend time with. However if you’re creating your own presentations — that you plan to deliver, you probably won’t use this feature. I hope the team sally’s forth with their concept. At the moment however, it’s not entirely clear whether they’re creating a presentation editor or a wix-style web site editor.
I love the concept, but it was harder and more frustrating to use than a PowerPoint. It closed more than 20 times when trying to make simple — easy — changes. I’m sure it will get better, but for now. I can’t give it my best…again, love the idea.
Okay, the ball is rolling and things that didn’t work previously are now working. Their team does followup with support and that’s a good thing. One more star added from my previous review that has been revoked as progress has been made.
Great app. Most useful for making a resume/cover letter that I can share on the internet—which I’m pretty sure I couldn’t do with Keynote. Microsoft kinda let’s you do this with OneDrive, but the other user has to have PowerPoint or some client-side app.
